S11 Surface & Underground combined (Refresher)
Standard 11 Combined RIISS00034 Surface Coal Mine Safety Skill Set and RIISS00033 Underground Coal Mine Safety Skill Set

This refresher program supports compliance with the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 (QLD) and aligns with the requirements outlined in Recognised Standard 11 – Training in coal mines. It is designed for individuals seeking to maintain their competency to work safely in Queensland’s open-cut surface and underground coal mines.

This course is for current workers in open-cut surface and underground coal mines who have previously completed the Standard 11 (RIISS00034 Surface Coal Mine Safety Skill Set and RIISS00033 Underground Coal Mine Safety Skill Set) and are due to refresh their competency.

Units of competency covered in this program include:

• RIIGOV201E Comply with site work processes/procedures
• RIIWHS201E Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
• RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace
• RIIRIS201E Conduct local risk control
• RIIERR205D Apply initial response first aid
• RIIERR302E Respond to local emergencies and incidents
• RIIERR203E Escape from hazardous situations unaided

 Standard 11 competencies are required to be refreshed every 5 years from date of issue.

Entry Requirements

• Students must possess the necessary language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills (ACSF Level 3) required to interpret and apply the relevant information effectively.
• Students will be assessed to ensure they have the appropriate level of foundational skills necessary for the program.

• Certified copies (if not issued by Col Joy Training Services) of Statements of Attainment for detailing Standard 11 Surface, RIISS00034 Surface Coal Mine Safety Skill Set and RIISS00033 Underground Coal Mine Safety Skill Set.

• Photo identification - drivers licence, passport, proof of age card / photo card high risk work licence.
• Your Unique Student Identifier (USI) number, if not already provided.
